Since its establishment in 2018, Pacific Green Energy (PGE) has deployed over 53 MW of solar plants in just six years, with plans to exceed 100 MW in the near future. With nearly 200 plants spread across Taiwan and only a five-member O&M team, how does PGE maintain such high efficiency in daily operations? We visited their office in Taipei’s East District, where O&M Manager 一朗 and O&M Specialist Julie shared how PHOTON has transformed their workflow.

Intuitive Monitoring, No Prior Knowledge Required

No prior knowledge required, the system intuitively presents anomalies.

Each morning, 一朗 begins his day by opening PHOTON’s O&M overview page. The system’s intuitive interface uses color-coded icons to immediately indicate inverter status across all plants. By clicking on an abnormal device, the team can quickly access detailed event information and dispatch work orders directly through the system. Once on-site, technicians use their mobile devices to pinpoint issues and conduct rapid repairs.

Currently, the team manages nearly 200 photovoltaic sites distributed across Taiwan, and each site is very important to the boss and investors. During the limited sunlight hours, timely inspection and identification of abnormal sites, obtaining abnormal information, and quickly resolving issues are crucial tasks that impact revenue. Every day when Yi-Lang arrives at the office, the first thing he does is open the PHOTON system's maintenance overview page. By using the color-coded icons of the devices, he can easily tell the operating status of inverters at each site. By clicking on abnormal equipment, he can view event information directly. If there are any issues, he can immediately assign work through the system. Maintenance personnel can also check the abnormal locations via their mobile phones when they arrive on site for quick repairs.

Complete Data for Spotting Hidden Issues

“By comparing daily PR and historical generation data, our team can evaluate equipment performance and prevent major losses. Sometimes we even analyze year-over-year generation patterns at the same site, which makes traceability crucial,” 一朗 explained.
Using PHOTON’s daily reports, Ichiro identifies abnormal generation, cross-checks inverter status, and dives into detailed MPPT curves to locate the exact cause of inefficiency.

AI Analytics for Optimal Performance

Beyond expert knowledge, PHOTON’s AI-powered analytics provide invaluable support. The system precisely notifies the team when module cleaning is needed, maximizing energy yield. With AI-driven anomaly detection and customizable thresholds, false alarms are minimized while abnormal devices are flagged accurately. This data not only helps optimize O&M strategies but also lowers unexpected failures and long-term costs—providing critical value to both operators and investors.

Automated Reporting: No More Manual Work

For Julie, PHOTON’s automated reporting has been a game changer. Previously, she spent days each month compiling hundreds of reports for internal teams, investors, and government agencies. Today, with just a few clicks, she can generate or even directly send customized reports to clients’ inboxes—eliminating repetitive manual work and boosting overall productivity.
